Possibilities for a study allowance
Are you not entitled to Wajong benefit, do you want to study and are you unable to work in addition to your studies because of your disability? Then you may be able to get an study supplement. This is part of the Participation Act. Students who are unable to earn an additional income due to a structural medical disability receive a minimum amount of study supplement to fill the gap.

The study grant is meant as a supplement to the student grant, because having a side job is difficult for students with a medical disability. The amount of the study allowance depends on your age. Therefore, the amount of the study allowance differs per age category, just like the legal minimum youth wage. These amounts are adjusted every six months. Internship allowance and study allowance
If you receive study allowance and income from your work placement, you will retain part of your entitlement to study allowance. You can read more about this on the website of the Central Government.
The study allowance is paid out by municipalities. Municipalities may pay a higher amount than the minimum amount per age category. You have to apply for the study allowance at the municipality where you live and are registered. For more information, contact the municipality where you live.

Am I entitled to a study allowance if I receive a Wajong benefit?
If you are receiving a Wajong benefit, you are not eligible for a study allowance.
Performance grant and basic grant
- Are you or have you been unable to earn your degree within 10 years of starting your degree programme? And is this because you have a disability or illness? In that case, you can ask to convert the performance grant into a gift. That means you will no longer be required to pay back the supplementary grant and travel product.
