Possibilities for lifelong learning credit

Lifelong learning credit allows you to lend a maximum amount equal to the statutory tuition or fees. So you can never lend more than you pay in tuition or fees.

You can get the credit for the duration of a study. For most studies, this is 4 years. For part-time studies, this is 5 years.

You must meet a number of conditions to be entitled to lifelong learning credit. For example, you are following a recognized program at hbo, university or a vocational training program at mbo. And you are younger than 56 years of age. From academic year 2024-2025, the age limit will be raised to 57 years. This is related to the increase in the state pension age.

You must repay the loan within 15 years, with interest. The amount of repayment depends on the amount of the loan, the interest rate, your income and that of your partner, if any. When you stop with the life long learning loan the repayment starts on January 1 of the next calendar year.
