Information on how to find an internship

Because the internship is part of the educational programme, your educational institution should help you find an internship. Often this happens only after a student has first searched for an internship place on own initiative.

What you can do to prepare yourself

  • Indicate to your educational institution (study supervisors, coordinators, deans, support staff) that you are finding it difficult to find an internship as a result of your support request. They can advise you and point you to additional help such as available courses or helpful organisations.
  • Consult with your internship teacher/agency about choosing an internship.
  • Before you start looking for an internship, write down your learning goals, ambition, required resources and focus points so that you know them well.
  • Look for an internship in a timely manner. There can be over-stimulation if there is an accumulation of activities you have to do.
  • Ask your guidance counsellor in time what your internship assignment will entail, so that you can prepare yourself well.

Portals for internships

There are also organisations that mediate internships for students with special needs. You can find these via the overview page 'help with internship'.
