Information about side job

If you have a part-time job alongside your studies, it's nice if you don't have to pay much tax. There are arrangements for this. It's also possible that you have a benefit. Even in that case, there are arrangements you need to take into account.

Student and student-worker scheme

All students (in other words, not only those with a special need) who have  a job and receive wages are potentially eligible for the special tax arrangement for students and pupils. This arrangement makes it possible to lower the amount your employer owes (and withholds) in taxes – meaning you keep a bigger portion of each paycheck – because you are a student.

Where possible, ask your educational institution for assistance and make sure to report any problems in a timely manner. A study advisor or student counselor can often refer you to the person who is knowledgeable about financial opportunities within your school and can sometimes assist with the application process. For instance, in cases of expected study delays. This prevents you from being late in applying for these benefits!

Also, check the other provisions, adjustments, or schemes that might help you.

What can you keep from your earnings?

Many students with special needs who have benefits have questions about reimbursements. It's understandable, as different rules apply to each scheme. Consider things like a volunteer's allowance, Wajong, WIA, IVA, or WGA. You can find more information here.
