The best way to find out which accommodations are possible at your educational institution is to ask your study counsellor, study adviser or student counsellor. They can offer you advice and refer you to important people or possibilities for care both within and outside your educational institution.

  • Find someone to help you: always look first to your teacher, mentor, tutor or study counsellor. He or she can often refer you to the right person. This person can give you extra support, help you with problems and encourage you to achieve your goals.
  • More information: let it be known that you would like to receive more information about studying with a disability and support needs: there are a lot of adjustments that you can benefit from.
  • Talk about what you need: tell your teachers and tutors what you find difficult and what you need help with. Don't wait until problems arise.
  • Know yourself: know what you are good at and what is difficult for you. This will help you ask for the right help.
  • Use the help that is available: at school there are often extra opportunities such as tutoring, study groups or special computers. Try to use this help.
  • Make plans you can actually do: choose goals you can achieve step by step. This will help you gain self-confidence and feel less pressure.
